SECONDSITE - BIM VISUALIZATION
The Second Site system utilizes advancements in augmented visualization technology to assist firms
in the areas of architectural representation, streamlined correspondence, and accuracy of building construction.
BUSINESS DESCRIPTION
A BIM (Building Information Model) approach to design allows all parties involved with a project to work from a single digital model of a building in real-time. SecondSite will utilize a custom built software platform to bring the usefulness of this approach to the active job site to mitigate on-site construction errors, wasted resources, and construction delays inherent to the current building process.

Problem:
Architects and Construction Managers need a way to necessarily extend the efficiency, accuracy, and speed of the BIM approach to the active construction site.

Solution:
SecondSite will utilize recent advancements in 3D augmented visualization to streamline real-time communication between architects, construction managers, and related sub trades. The ability to incorporate a 3D digital model into the active jobsite will increase the speed, accuracy and efficiency of communication between all parties involved, thus reducing the overall cost of doing business.

The system will provide continuous 3Dimensional model updates allowing construction administrators to see real-time 3D visual representations of coordinated plumbing, electrical, mechanical and architectural construction systems. The system also allows architects to see photos and videos associated with the physical construction to make adjustments as necessary to account for on-site conditions. Because these functions are performed over a single central model the data avoids redundancy, the system has a tendency to auto correct, and the information is communicated real-time with minimal effort.

As a result, both architects and construction managers can refer to a single and central source for their information managed through a third party (SecondSite). This frees the architect to concentrate on design issues and systems coordination rather than spending valuable internal resources on accurate model construction or providing custom drawings to construction managers to describe particular construction details. This also frees the construction managers from spending valuable internal resources trying to communicate the site conditions of a particular aspect of the project. In an age where business travel is becoming increasingly cost prohibitive, a communication technology such as this will be crucial to keeping projects
on time and up to date.
